February Police Blotter

February 1, 2025 12:04 p.m.

Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a female attempting to leave the store with stolen merchandise. Upon arrival, patrol made contact with the female who initially gave a fake name and date of birth to police. After further investigation, it was determined the female was Dana Seawright (59) of Manville, NJ and she had numerous warrants for her arrest. She was subsequently arrested for hindering apprehension and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 2, 2025 1:45 a.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Bruno Braga-Angulo (29) of Manville, NJ, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and released with a new court date.

February 2, 2025 10:00 p.m.

Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a shoplifting that occurred earlier in the day. After reviewing video surveillance footage, it was determined Yasin Morris (42) of Manville, NJ had entered the store and stole protein powder. police later located Morris and placed him under arrest for shoplifting and defiant Trespassing as well as numerous warrants. He was processed and turned over to Somerville Police Department for further processing.

February 3, 2025 7:24 a.m.

Police were dispatched along the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks on the report of a theft. Police spoke with the reporting party, a construction company employee, who advised that an air compressor on a vehicle trailer was stolen. Police are actively investigating the theft.

February 3, 2025 6:53 p.m.

Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a shoplifting that occurred earlier in the day. Patrol spoke with staff who advised that an unknown male entered the store and stole numerous items from the store. Police are actively investigating the incident.

February 4, 2025 7:52 a.m.

Police were dispatched to Quick Chek on the report of a shoplifting that occurred earlier that morning. Police spoke with the staff who advised a male had taken numerous energy drinks from the store without paying for them. The male, John Von Borstol (28) of Manville, NJ, was later located and arrested for shoplifting as well as multiple outstanding warrants. He was processed and turned over to East Brunswick Police for further processing.

February 8, 2025 12:20 a.m.

Police were dispatched to a local residence on the report of a theft. Patrol spoke with the reporting party who advised that they allowed a guest into their home. While the guest was there, he took the caller’s wallet. The guest, Yasin Morris (42) of Manville, NJ, was located and turned the wallet over to police. He was subsequently arrested for theft, processed and released on a summons with a future court date.

February 8, 2025 11:29 p.m.

Police were dispatched to North Main Street on the report of a disorderly male in the roadway. Upon arrival, they located the male acting erratically and standing in front of vehicles. When asked to move out of the roadway, the male refused and told police to charge him. The male, Kareem Cotton (28) of Franklin Park, NJ, was subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was transported to Somerset County Jail for Manville warrants.

February 10, 2025 2:13 a.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, John Burroughs (35) of Old Bridge, NJ, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

February 11, 2025 10:36 a.m.

Police spoke with a male who advised that he was scammed. The male related that he bought a car from Facebook Marketplace which was not as advertised. The person who sold him the car had altered the title and the vehicle’s odometer. Police are actively investigating the incident.

February 11, 2025 1:12 p.m.

Police spoke with a resident who advised that they were scammed. The resident advised that he bought a vehicle from a male he did not know. When the resident attempted to register the vehicle, he was told that the title and vehicle’s odometer were altered. Police are investigating the incident.

February 11, 2025 2:29 p.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. During the motor vehicle stop, police became aware that an occupant in the vehicle, Precious Taylor (43) of Somerville, NJ, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 11, 2025 6:07 p.m.

Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a shoplifting that occurred earlier that day. It was determined that Yasin Morris (42) of Manville, NJ had taken items from Walmart without paying for them. He was later charged and served his summons for shoplifting and defiant trespassing.

February 12, 2025 10:23 p.m.

Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a shoplifting in progress. While enroute to the store, police located Yasin Morris (42) of Manville, NJ walking away from the store. After seeing the police, he attempted to hide from them. He was eventually apprehended and placed under arrest for shoplifting, defiant trespassing and resisting arrest by flight. He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 12, 2025

Police were dispatched to a residence for a domestic violence dispute. An investigation led to a 35-year-old male being arrested for domestic violence simple assault. He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 13, 2025

Police were dispatched to a local residence on the report of a restraining order violation. Patrol generated a warrant for a 30 year-old male’s arrest for a violation of the restraining order. He was later located, arrested and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 14, 2025

Police were dispatched to a local residence on the report of a domestic dispute.  Police located the accused, a 36-year-old male, who was subsequently placed under arrest for domestic violence simple assault. He was charged accordingly, processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 14, 2025 10:34 p.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Jack Kuhlman (29) of Manville, NJ, was under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest, processed, and released to a responsible party.

February 16, 2025 3:06 p.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Eduardo Romero (29) of North Brunswick, NJ, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

February 17, 2025 11:00 a.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Rodney Larkins (49) of Somerset, NJ, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and turned over to Piscataway Police for further processing.

February 18, 2025

Police were dispatched to a local apartment building on the report of two roommates having a physical altercation. A 41-year-old male was arrested for domestic violence simple assault. He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 18, 2025 5:40 p.m.

Police arrested Scott Keller (39) of Somerset, NJ for an active Manville warrant. He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

February 19, 2025 5:21 a.m.

While serving Yasin Morris (42) of Manville, NJ with summonses from earlier in the month, patrol observed Morris to be in possession of property that did not belong to him. Further investigation revealed Morris attempted to burglarize numerous vehicles and was successful burglarizing one. He was arrested, charged with burglary, and transported to Somerset County Jail a few days later.

February 20, 2025 9:43 a.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Ahmed Noseir (33) of South River, NJ, had active warrants for his arrest. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

February 20, 2025 9:18 a.m.

After a 7-month long investigation, police detectives arrested Victor Soto (26) of Perth Amboy, NJ for a theft he committed in July. Walmart employees reported that an unknown male entered the store and, was able to take approximately $500 from the store. Utilizing multiple different agencies, Police were able to ascertain the identity of the individual and charge him.

February 25, 2025 3:00 p.m.

Police arrested Berta Nieto (44) of Manville, NJ for an outstanding warrant. She was processed and released on her own recognizance with a future court date.

February 27, 2025 3:25 p.m.

Police arrested Edgar Leal (29) of Somerset, NJ for burglary charges from an incident last month in Manville. Leal also had numerous felony warrants from multiple jurisdictions. While processing Leal, it became apparent that he had given an officer a fake name on a motor vehicle stop in January. He was subsequently charged with hindering apprehension in addition to burglary and theft. He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

NOTE: The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
