December Police Blotter

December 1, 2023, 8:46 a.m.

A resident advised that her vehicle was vandalized during the overnight hours. Patrol reviewed surveillance cameras and are developing a suspect.  Police are actively investigating the incident.

December 2, 2023, 8:40 a.m.

A local resident advised that sometime during the night his catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle.  Police are investigating the incident.

December 3, 2023, 1:35 a.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle for numerous traffic offenses.  Pedro Ramos-Mejia (31) of Bound Brook was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.  He was processed and released to a responsible party.

December 4, 2023, 5:14 p.m.

A local resident responded to Manville Police Headquarters reporting that she was scammed.  The resident advised she sent $50 to an unknown individual from Facebook Marketplace believing they would send her a PlayStation 5. Police are investigating the incident.

December 6, 2023, 8:44 a.m.

Patrol responded to a business on the report of a catalytic converter theft. Patrol spoke with a worker from the business who advised that a vehicle that was parked in their lot had a catalytic converter stolen.  Police are investigating the incident.


 

December 6, 2023, 2:46 p.m.

Patrol received a complaint about solicitors in the area of South 13th Avenue. Upon arrival, a male and female were observed soliciting to residences without a permit from the Borough of Manville.  They were cited for the incident and sent on their way.

December 7, 2023, 11:41 a.m.

Patrol was dispatched to Walmart on the report of a shoplifting that occurred the night prior.  Upon reviewing video surveillance it was determined that two unknown males stole approximately $5,300 worth of electronics.  Police are investigating the shoplifting.

December 7, 2023, 12:00 p.m.

The Manville Detective Bureau investigated a shoplifting from a few months earlier.  It was determined that Shana Carreker (38) of Branchburg shoplifted approximately $107 worth of merchandise from Walmart.  She was charged, processed and released with a future court date.

December 7, 2023, 3:45 p.m.

Patrol received a complaint about a male who lets his dog defecate on his neighbor’s lawn.  Patrol responded to the male’s residence and spoke with him about the incident.  The male advised he would no longer walk his dog on the reporting party’s property.  The issue was resolved peacefully.

December 8, 2023, 11:51 a.m.

Patrol responded to Walmart for a shoplifting that occurred a few days prior. Police spoke with staff who advised that an unknown individual stole several items from the store.  Police are investigating the incident.


 

December 8, 2023, 1:00 p.m.

Police spoke with a male who advised he observed two packages in the roadway.  Police were able to locate the owners of the packages and returned them to the owners with no further issues.

December 12, 2023, 8:34 p.m.

Patrol received a complaint that a female who was not allowed on Walmart’s property was there earlier in the day.  After reviewing video surveillance footage from Walmart, Alexa Farenga (36) was observed on the property and charged with Defiant Trespassing.  She was issued her summons and released with a pending court date.

December 17, 2023, 3:44 p.m.

Patrol responded to a local residence on the report of a dispute over a parked vehicle.  Police spoke with both parties and resolved the issue peacefully.  Both parties were satisfied with the results.

December 17, 2023, 6:41 p.m.

Patrol was dispatched to Walmart on the report of an assault that occurred inside of the store between two parties.  Police spoke with both parties who advised that they engaged in a mutual shoving match over a shopping cart. Both parties were advised of complaint signing procedures and the issue was resolved.

December 18, 2023, 6:00 p.m.

Police were dispatched to the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks for a minivan that was stuck on the tracks.  Police were able to successfully push the minivan off of the railroad tracks prior to a train arriving.


 

December 19, 2023

A female responded to Manville Police Headquarters to advise police that her 36-year-old ex-husband violated a restraining order that was currently in affect.  It was determined that the male did in fact violate the restraining order, and he was subsequently charged and arrested for the violation.

December 19, 2023, 9:55 p.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested the driver, Christos Metaxas (46) of Northfield for multiple warrants.  During a search incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of narcotics and other drug paraphernalia.  He was subsequently processed and released with a pending court date after being released on his own recognizance for the warrants.

December 20, 2023, 7:50 p.m.

Police were dispatched to a local business on the report of a verbal altercation between a married couple.  Upon investigating the incident it was determined to be a miscommunication and both parties were satisfied with the result.

December 21, 2023, 6:16 a.m.

Patrol was dispatched to a local residence on the report of a criminal mischief. Upon arrival, patrol located a rock thrown through the caller’s window.  Police are actively investigating the incident.

December 21, 2023, 11:16 p.m.

Patrol was advised a female who shoplifted from Walmart was currently fleeing the store.  Police located the female who continued to flee from patrol.  After a brief foot chase, the female, Megan Hardy (32) of Manville was apprehended. She was charged with Shoplifting and Obstruction, processed and released on summons.

December 23, 2023, 11:42 p.m.

Patrol conducted a pedestrian stop on a male for jaywalking.  While investigating the matter, the male provided a false name to patrol.  It was determined that the male was Shaquille Copeland (27) of Plainfield.  He was arrested for Hindering Apprehension as well as an NCIC Warrant.  He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

December 26, 2023, 5:47 p.m.

Patrol was dispatched to Quick Chek for an unwanted male in the store who put merchandise in his pocket.  Police arrived on scene and made contact with the male who paid for the item.  Quick Chek management wished for the male to be trespassed from the store.  The male was advised and left without incident.

December 27, 2023, 4:13 p.m.

Patrol was dispatched to Walmart for three juveniles who attempted to shoplift merchandise from the store.  The juveniles turned over the items to Walmart staff and were trespassed from the store by police.  They were later turned over to a parent.

December 28, 2023

Police responded to a local residence for a domestic disturbance.  After investigating the incident, a 47-year-old male was arrested for Domestic Violence Simple Assault.  He was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

December 29, 2023, 2:30 a.m.

Police arrested Amonov Lazizbek (27) on a Manville warrant.  He was processed and released on his own recognizance with a new court date.

December 29, 2023, 1:56 p.m.

Police were dispatched to a local convenience store on the report of a male inside the store eating items without paying for them.  The store wished for the male to leave without being charged for the incident.  Police spoke to the male and trespassed him from the store.

December 30, 2023, 9:20 p.m.

Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on South Main Street.  Upon arriving, police located a male who was ejected from a vehicle that had been overturned.  Medical aid was rendered to him and a passenger of the vehicle, and they were both transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick for their injuries.
