Emergency Services Unit

The Manville Police Department Emergency Service Unit has been in existence since 2002. The Unit was formed in response to Hurricane Floyd which ravaged the Borough of Manville with flood waters and storm damage in September 1999. With the assistance of Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman, the Borough received a grant which assisted in the purchasing of emergency equipment as well as a structure to house it.

Sergeant Ryan Steier, who has been serving the Borough of Manville since 2005, is the current Operations Commander of the Unit. The Unit trains throughout the year both on land as well as on the water so that they are prepared for deployment in any type of emergency.

The Unit has also assisted in Search and Rescue Operations within and outside the Borough.
