September Police Blotter

September 2, 2024 1:07 a.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. The driver, Julia Lucas (25) of Manville, NJ was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. She was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and released to a responsible party.

September 3, 2024 1:57 a.m.

Patrol was dispatched to a local residence on the report of a theft in progress. A witness advised police that he observed an unknown male take two bicycles from his neighbor’s property. Patrol confirmed with the owner that they were in fact stolen. Police are investigating the incident.

September 3, 2024 10:30 a.m.

Police were dispatched to a local convenience store on the report of a disorderly patron. The female was confronted by staff after attempting to go into an area of the store designated for employees. Upon arrival, police located the female and were able to calm her down. Order was restored and the female was sent on her way.

September 4, 2024

Patrol spoke with a seventeen-year-old victim of an assault and her biological father at Manville Police Headquarters. She reported her mother’s current husband struck her and used profanity towards her while yelling at her. The stepfather, a 49 year-old male, was placed under arrest for simple assault and harassment. He was released and provided a future court date.

September 4, 2024 5:15 p.m.

Police arrested Melissa Stani (48) of Somerset, NJ on an active warrant. She was processed and released on her own recognizance with a future court date.

September 5, 2024 1:35 a.m.

Police conducted a pedestrian stop on a female for not utilizing the crosswalk while crossing the street. It was determined the female, Patricia McCord (58) of Manville, NJ, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. While conducting a search of her person, police located narcotics and drug paraphernalia on her. She was charged accordingly and released on her own recognizance with a future court date.

September 6, 2024 12:39 p.m.

A resident responded to Manville Police Headquarters and reported that she received an email stating her Social Security Number had been compromised. She then called the phone number on the email and gave out personal information. The resident believed she was scammed and wished to document the incident with police.

September 7, 2024 9:03 a.m.

Patrol was dispatched to a local convenience store on the report of a shoplifting. While enroute to the store, police were advised the suspect had fled the scene on a bicycle. Patrol was able to locate the individual and attempted to stop him. The male disregarded patrol’s emergency lights and was shouting expletives at police while riding his bicycle. He then stopped his bicycle a few hundred feet down the road. The male, Lenny Cerillo (50) of Manville, NJ, was subsequently placed under arrest, transported to Manville Police Headquarters and charged accordingly.

September 7, 2024 8:14 p.m.

Patrol responded to Walmart on the report of a female shoplifter who was currently still in the store. Upon arrival, police located and arrested Marrissa Spargo (24) of Whitehouse Station, NJ. She was processed, charged and transported to Somerset County Jail.

September 8, 2024

Police responded to a local residence on the report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police arrested a 53-year-old female for Domestic Violence Simple Assault. She was processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

September 8, 2024 8:07 p.m.

Police were dispatched to a local business on the report of a male currently outside of the store who was previously given a trespass. Upon arrival, patrol located the male outside of the business. While police were speaking with him, the male littered in front of them. He was asked to pick up his garbage however, he refused. The male, Stanislaw Jarras (38) of Manville, NJ, was subsequently provided a summons for Littering and given a future court date.

September 9, 2024 12:05 a.m.

Police were dispatched to a local residence on the report of a burglary in progress. Police arrived and located a male outside of the residence who was subsequently detained. Police spoke with the resident who advised that after she asked the male to leave her apartment, he remained outside and broke a window of hers. The male, Stanislaw Jarras (38) of Manville, NJ, was subsequently arrested. Search incident to arrest, police located two glass smoking pipes on his person. He was processed, charged accordingly and transported to Somerset County Jail.

September 9, 2024 1:02 p.m.

Police arrested Patrice Wilson (30) of Newton, NJ on an outstanding Manville arrest warrant. She was processed and released on her own recognizance with a future court date.

September 9, 2024 6:22 p.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic offenses. It was determined the driver, Shomari Chambers (22) of Staten Island, NY, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody, processed and released with a future court date after being able to post bail for the warrant.

September 10, 2024 1:07 p.m.

Police were dispatched to Manville Police Headquarters on the report of a female who had an active warrant for her arrest. Police made contact with the female, Alexa Farenga (36) of Somerville, NJ, who was able to post bail money for the warrant. She was subsequently processed and released with a future court date.

September 10, 2024 9:57 p.m.

Police responded to Walmart on the report of a theft. Patrol arrived and spoke with a male who advised his bicycle was stolen from outside of the store while he was shopping. Police are investigating the incident.

September 11, 2024 7:03 a.m.

While investigating a motor vehicle accident, police determined that one of the drivers involved had an active warrant for his arrest. The male, Jerrey Garcia-Cuenca (23) of Manville, NJ, was subsequently placed under arrest. He was processed and able to post bail. He was provided a new court date and released from police custody.

September 11, 2024 12:17 p.m.

Police were dispatched to a local business on the report of an illegal dumping complaint. Upon arrival, police located the male in question who dumped multiple bags of garbage from his pick-up truck in an area he was not supposed to. It was later determined that the registration for the male’s pick-up truck was suspended by the DMV. It was subsequently towed, and he was provided with summonses.

September 12, 2024 9:20 a.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Michael Dixon-Wright (48) of Morristown, NJ, had active warrants for his arrest. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.

September 16, 2024 11:51 p.m.

Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. The driver, Christopher Foulds (35) of Somerville, NJ, had multiple warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody, processed and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

September 17, 2024 1:33 a.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic offenses. It was determined the driver, Jmaurie Tucker (27) of Chestertown, NJ, had active warrants for his arrest. He was able to post full bail for the warrants and was released with a future court date.

September 17, 2024 7:53 a.m.

Police were notified of a credit card fraud complaint. The victim stated that while she was at work, her credit card information was utilized by an unknown individual multiple times. Police are actively investigating the incident.

September 18, 2024 3:19 p.m.

Patrol responded to a local residence for a missing juvenile complaint. The juvenile’s mother stated she saw her son walking towards their home after school ended. She then became preoccupied and after a brief period of time realized he never entered the residence. Police searched for the juvenile and were able to locate him. He was reunited with his mother.

September 19

Police responded to a local residence on the report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival police met with the victim who stated one of his roommates had been physically and verbally abusive towards him over the past few weeks. Police made contact with the other party, a 41-year-old male, who was extremely uncooperative and combative with officers. When told he was under arrest, the male fought with officers and bit one of them. After being restrained, the male was brought back to Manville Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged accordingly. He was later transported to Somerset County Jail.

September 20, 2024 11:22 a.m.

Police were dispatched to a local business on the report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival, police spoke to the store manager who advised that a group of four individuals entered the store and took over $700 worth of merchandise. Police are actively investigating the incident.

September 21, 2024 2:16 p.m.

Police were called to a local residence on the report of a theft in progress. Upon arrival, patrol spoke with the resident who advised that a male took chairs from the side of the house that belonged to him. Police were able to speak to the other party who advised he believed the chairs were garbage. He was advised to return the chairs and told that he was not allowed on the property.

September 21, 2024 10:30 p.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. The driver, Edvin Josue Contreras Iglecias (23) of Plainfield, NJ was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed and released to a responsible party.

September 24, 2024 8:25 a.m.

Patrol conducted a pedestrian stop on an individual not utilizing the crosswalk while crossing the street. It was later determined that the male, Dane Scoffone (35) of Manville, NJ, had active warrants for his arrest. He was subsequently taken into custody, processed and turned over to Woodbridge Police Department for the warrant.

September 24, 2024 9:31 a.m.

Police arrested Kenneth Simmone (58) of Manville, NJ for an active warrant. He was processed and turned over to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office for the warrant.

September 26, 2024 7:59 a.m.

Patrol stopped a male on a bicycle for traffic violations. It was determined the rider, Richard Rivera (59) of Manville, NJ, had an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody, processed and turned over to Edison Police Department for the warrant.

September 26, 2024 3:18 p.m.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for numerous traffic violations. It was determined the driver, Daniela Miranda-Paniagua (27) of Manville, NJ, had a warrant for her arrest. She was placed under arrest, processed and released on her own recognizance with a future court date.

September 27, 2024 11:39 a.m.

Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a possible motor vehicle theft. Police spoke with the owner of the vehicle who advised he was inside the store for approximately twenty minutes and when he was finished shopping, he could not find his vehicle. Patrol searched the area and were able to locate the vehicle for him.

September 28, 2024 6:18 p.m.

Police arrested Darnell Johnson (43) of Irvington, NJ on an active warrant. He was processed and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

September 29, 2024 11:19 p.m.

Police responded to a local convenience store on the report of a male making employees uncomfortable. Upon arrival, police located the male who was given a verbal trespass notice in the past from the store. The male, Kareem Cotton (28) of Manville, NJ, was subsequently placed under arrest for Defiant Trespass as well as an active warrant. He was processed and later released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

September 30, 2024

Police responded to a local residence for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police arrested a 37-year-old female for Domestic Violence Simple Assault. She was processed and released on a summons with a future court date.
