The Manville Police Department has joined forces with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and have now implemented Project Medicine Drop in the Manville Police Department.
The initiative was created by the New Jersey Division of Community Affairs after realizing how successful the annual collection of unused medications was in their annual collection. In an effort to combat the ongoing opiod problems which has plagued New Jersey in recent years Project Medicine Drop was created and partnered with Law Enforcement across the state of New Jersey.
Through this initiative, the State Division of Consumer Affairs installs secure prescription drug drop boxes at police departments, Sheriff’s Offices and State Police barracks across New Jersey, allowing citizens to safely dispose of their unused, excess, or expired prescription medications.
The Medicine Drop Box is now installed in the Manville Police Department lobby for our residents to access any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Any unused, expired or excess pills, capsules, patches and pet medications can now be disposed of anonymously. LIQUIDS, NEEDLES AND SYRINGES CAN NOT BE PLACED IN THE BOX.
If you should have any questions pertaining to your medications or any other aspects of Project Medicine Drop you can contact Detective Sean Carroll at (908) 725-1685 or scarroll@manvillepd.org.
